We acknowledge the greatness of fly dressers through the years, many unsung, all modest and some sadly now forgotten. These amazing people are responsible for developing the majority of the flies and techniques you use today. Meanwhile time and boundaries move on in that never ending search for the perfect tackle, new materials and new ways of using old materials. Special thanks go to the many skilled individuals, including the following who have contributed some of the modern great patterns and products included in this catalogue:

We probably offer the largest range of flies and tying materials of any online stockist and we label the flies we sell for easy identification and future reference. World Class Fluorocarbon continues to dominate the market and is now joined by an outstanding new Copolymer. For tippet material it will be hard to beat the Fulling Mill range. There are new style hooks and accessories, and the millions of us who use prescription spectacles now have the choice of a complete range of really high quality polarised clip-ons from the Cocoons stable. The superb award winning Fulling Mill 15ft 6 piece Spey rod has been given a face lift without any change to the action or feel, and the new Pioneer 9’6” 4 piece (all-rounder) is, we think, their finest rod yet! All of these products and more are available online here.

NEW TO FLY FISHING?
Although we supply flies and materials we also actively encourage people to get involved in fly fishing and fly tying. This is why we support the Fly Dressers Guild, the British Fly Fair and to protect our waterways, lakes and rivers for anglers and wildlife alike, the Anglers' Conservation Association (ACA). If you fancy fly fishing (or tying) but just don't know where to start just drop us an email and we will point you in the right direction.
FLY TYING
Interested in fly tying? Then take a look at the Fly Dressers Guild. The guild was formed in 1967 and exists to promote and teach the art of fly tying. You don't need to be a game fisherman nor do you need to have any specialist skills. The FDG publishes Fly Dresser four times a year and has discount schemes in place with trade members such as ourselves. Backed up with a national network of branches you will soon be tying your own and saving money!

For beginners the FDG has an excellent starter package, annual membership, tool kit, book and materials all for £38. See UK Special Offer from the FDG home page.
HOW TO FILLET & SMOKE TROUT
If you have never tried to smoke trout you really do not know what you are missing, it gives the fish an excellent flavour. Over the years I have seen all sorts of hot smokers on the market, some are badly designed and many are expensive. Hot smoking is a technique that cooks and flavours the fish at the same time and can be done anywhere (except indoors!) cheaply, no expensive equipment is required!

The ability to fillet is an important part of the process and whilst I can manage to get fillets off they do tend to be reminiscent of a road traffic accident so for this job I have enlisted the help of Keith Perkins a commercial Haddock smoker for many years! Please use the buttons to the left, as there are quite a few images the article has been split between two pages.
